We are The Society of Nanoscale Infrastructure Professionals — We are OneNano.

We Catalyze Engagement

We are OneNano

A society of nanoscale infrastructure professionals
whose regional chapters support engagement among our operational peers.

Our Vision, Mission, Values, and Goals

01

Vision

Our vision is to serve the micro/nano fabrication and characterization community by fostering a consensus of best practices in safety and data standards, creating a model of streamlined collaboration in operational innovation and workforce/professional development.

02

Mission

We will accomplish our vision through initiatives that also reinforce our shared values in Community, Equitability, Impact, and Transparency

03

Values and Goals

  • Community: We serve the community of professionals who operate nano (and micro) scale infrastructure in providing a space for them to meet and build regional professional networks.
  • Equitability: We provide value our members’ respective organizations regardless of their size and resources.
  • Impact: We enable our members to share best practices within and beyond their regions.
  • Transparency:
    • Internally: Among our leadership and members, we strive for transparency about competing interests between the organizations we represent.
    • Externally: We strive for open knowledge exchange with a commitment to generating open source resources where applicable.

CREATE A CHAPTER

Become part of our peer network of regional chapters consisting of operational colleagues in the nanoscale infrastructure.

Catalyze Engagement

Through a OneNano chapter, regional nanoscale infrastructure peers can meet regularly and in person to discuss topics related to supporting research and innovation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is OneNano.org?

OneNano is a diverse group of professionals—nanofab and characterization facility personnel related to operations, administration, and facilities support—working together to provide foundational and infrastructural support in nanotechnology across academia, government, and industry.
OneNano is operated by The Society of Nanoscale Infrastructure Professionals, Inc., a Pennsylvania non-profit and a USA 501(c)(3) public charity.

Why do you meet?

We meet to discuss topics that include but are not limited to operations management, lab safety, finance, supply chain, etc., as they relate to nanoscale infrastructure and the active scientific research and education they support.

Who runs OneNano?

OneNano is operated by a Pennsylvania non-profit The Society of Nanoscale Infrastructure Professionals, Inc., which is doing business as OneNano. The organization’s board of directors and founders consists of nanoscale infrastructure operational peers within the mid-Atlantic United States who ran the Mid-Atlantic Nanofab Managers’ Meeting founded by the late Mr. Meredith Metzler. The scope of the organization now broadly supports nanoscale infrastructure professionals to include characterization facilities.

Why does OneNano exist?

OneNano exists to establish a governance that provides a meeting framework for nanoscale infrastructure peers within a geographical region. As a general rule of thumb, a chapter’s region is determined by its members’ ability to travel within a reasonable distance to attend a meeting (or to return home) on the same day of travel.

How many OneNano chapters currently exist?

OneNano officially launched on October 30, 2025, with two inaugural chapters: the Mid-Atlantic and Southern California.
