Start a Chapter
… and spark regional engagement. We believe in-person interactions build familiarity and trust — this is the shared goal of every chapter for each and every Meredith Meeting. Meredith Meeting dates, its venue, its speakers, its topics/talks and its communications are arranged by the Chapter Executive Committee which consists of the Chapter Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary. Let OneNano manage the organizational infrastructure while your Chapter Executive Committee can concentrate on building community, developing programs and creating meaningful regional engagement.
So you want to get started? Here are the
Basic Requirements
The Inaugural Team
We’re looking for a volunteer team with a minimum of three (3) individuals whose inaugural leadership will establish the Chapter’s regional Executive Committee. Each member must represent a different organization and should be willing to assume the responsibilities in their assigned role as Chapter Chair, Vice-Chair, or Secretary. Each member serves for two (2) years to help coordinate four (4) meetings. Beyond the minimum, additional members may be part of the committee as members at-large. See role responsibilities below.
The Audience
As the inaugural team, you must be able to demonstrate your region supports an ecosystem of academia, government, and/or industry nanoscale infrastructure professionals who wish to organize under a OneNano Chapter. Your audience is your regional professional network and lifeline who will help guide the Chapter’s direction. To ensure their participation, the Chapter Executive Committee is required to maintain regular communication with your community and be willing to market to known and potential attendees.
The Sponsorship
Recognizing that the OneNano organization must remain solvent in its operation, especially to run meetings, manage its soft infrastructure and to support initiatives, the Chapter Executive Committee must be willing to secure sponsorship twice a year to support the biannual meetings for spring and autumn. As a society of nanoscale infrastructure professionals, our supply chain vendors seek opportunities to engage our community. Your new Chapter incentivizes vendors seeking to maintain and establish new relationships.
The Chapter Executive Committee Roles
The Chapter Executive Committee at minimum consists of three members: the Chapter Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary. Each Executive Committee member serves in their renewable role for two (2) years. The Executive Committee may add members to its team to intellectually contribute to the overall planning their Meredith Meetings and to provide a succession pipeline.
Chapter Chair
Meeting Logistics: Where, When, $
The Chapter Chair’s sole responsibility coordinates the next Meredith Meeting venue, dates, hotel, happy hour, and meals: light breakfast, coffee breaks, and lunch. They are required to operate under a budget that feeds into the overall OneNano operations. The role is endowed with financial spending power to help drive the meetings, which is primarily food and beverage.
Vice-Chair
Program: Speaker Coordination
The Vice-Chair coordinates the next Meredith Meeting’s speakers and talks as the de facto Program Chair. Suggested cadence of the agenda is provided by the OneNano leadership. The role leverages their own network and the network of the Executive Committee (and beyond) to invite speakers.
Secretary
Communications: Email Marketing
The Secretary communicates all meeting notifications and chapter news. They are in charge of managing the registration portal, the contact list and email campaigns to encourage attendence. This role is the most critical as registrations tend to correlate strongly to the number of “email reminders” that are sent out.
