The University of Michigan is excited to host the first OneNano Meredith Meeting for the Midwest on May 12th, sponsored by Kurt J. Lesker! This single-day event is an informal gathering of professionals who manage or maintain nanoscale focused facilities such as cleanrooms and imaging & analysis suites at universities, government facilities, and in industry. Our goal is to serve the micro- and nanoscale fabrication and characterization community by advancing best practices in safety and data standards, strengthening collaboration in operational innovation, and supporting workforce and professional development across academia, government, and industry.
Schedule: Program talk details are forthcoming.
Monday evening (5/11) 6 – 9 PM – Optional Networking Event (Bandito’s Fresh Mexican Restaurant)
The event will start with an optional networking event with light fare and drinks Monday evening at Bandito’s Fresh Mexican Restaurant, a 10-minute walking distance from hotel. This is a good chance to catch up with colleagues and make new connections with staff and managers of similar research facilities in the region.
Tuesday (5/12) 8 AM – 3 PM – Main Conference at LNF
This is the main event with presentations focused on topics of interest to staff of nanoscale facilities, mostly focused on facility operations, safety, and management. Many presentations result in a group discussion of the topic and further conversations at breaks. We end promptly at 3 PM so everyone has plenty of time to get home. Light breakfast foods / beverages will be provided in the morning as well as a catered lunch midday.
Getting Here
The University of Michigan LNF is accessible from throughout the Midwest region via plane, train, or car. If you stay at the hotel, the shuttle service offered by the DoubleTree is an excellent option to get to the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility; you will need to reserve a ride when you check into the hotel.
By Air: The closest major airport is Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) with major carriers like American, Delta, United and others, located about 25–30 miles from Ann Arbor. From DTW, you can reach campus via rental car, ride-share services, or shuttle transportation.
By Train: Amtrak provides daily service to Ann Arbor Station (ARB) via the Wolverine Line, with direct connections to Chicago and Detroit. The Ann Arbor station is located a short distance from downtown and the University of Michigan campus, and local transportation options (ride-share, taxis, and city buses) are available for travel to the conference location.
By Car: Ann Arbor is conveniently located off I-94 and US-23, with easy access from Detroit, Chicago, Lansing, and other surrounding Midwest cities. Parking details and campus access information will be shared with attendees closer to the event date.
